THE ROMANTIC SIDE OF RICK BRAUN -- WITH STRINGS

THE ROMANTIC SIDE OF RICK BRAUN -- WITH STRINGS

A quartet of string players and the internationally known keyboard jazzer Phillip Saisse will join trumpet and flugelhorn virtuoso -- and now singer -- Rick Braun in a particularly unique jazz concert and showcase for Braun's new stage personality as recorded on "Rick Braun Sings With Strings." Saisse was also the album's producer.Braun has always had a soft spot in his heart for love songs with enchanting melodies and thoughtful lyrics. These days Braun is best known for more than a decade's worth of smooth jazz albums and radio hits, but the world of ballads is where Braun lives on his own time.
Some of the titles in the "Sings With Strings" collection are "Time After Time," "I Didn't Know What Time It Was," "The Things We Did Last Summer" and "The Good Life." Braun also promises that he and Saisse will be doing some good old-fashioned jazz jamming with a rhythm section of Tucson's top players.

The dinner dance and concert, plus a silent auction of upscale items, begins at 7 p.m. Friday, April 13, on the garden grounds of the downtown Stillwell House, 134 S. Fifth Ave. This event is also a fund raiser for the sponsoring Tucson Jazz Society. It replaces Braun's  traditional Tucson summer jazz all-star concert and TJS  fund raiser that has been held at Loews Ventana Canyon Resort.

Tickets are $100 per person, with $75 being tax deductible. For details and online reservations, visit www.tucsonjazz.org
