JAZZ GIANTS PUMP IT UP IN BIG BENEFIT CONCERT

JAZZ GIANTS PUMP IT UP IN BIG BENEFIT CONCERT

Promising an evening of straight-ahead jazz, a quartet of internationally recognized players are descending on Tucson July 31 to do if for the love – and raise enough money to put the Tucson Jazz Society back in the black.

The benevolent musicians are Rick Braun, trumpet, Brian Bromberg, bass, Judy Roberts, pianist/vocalist, and Greg Fishman, tenor sax. A number of local musicians will be jumping onstage to contribute their talents, as well. Stepping up as the opening act are students from the Tucson Jazz Institute who play in the school’s Ellington Big Band unit.

Read why these high-profile players are pitching in their talents so freely, click on the Music page.

This swinging event, billed as the TJS Celebrity Jazz Benefit, is set for 7 p.m. on Friday, July 31, at the Marriott Starr Pass Resort. Tickets are $25 general admission, $20 TJS members, $10 students and military. Premium tables for two by the bandstand are $175 general admission, $150 members. For details and tickets, 903-1265, or visit www.tucsonjazz.org
